Description: In the late 70s liberalism was reinforced in its “new” form: neoliberalism. As a direct and strong attack against the workers class which was passing by a disarticulation phase since the general lost of faith in communist systems and the capital crises. Neoliberalism spread inside all political movements attacking their materialist, philosophical and collective basis as their historical continuum. From the beginning, many activists criticized the neoliberal trends. Inside feminism the neoliberal wave was detected and criticized for the first time in the late 80s when post-structuralist trends and identity politics started to be criticized by radical feminists, specially from the lesbian-feminist tradition. Following the neoliberal trends and tendencies, queer theory was born inside of academies and embodied post-structuralist principles. The lesbian-feminism of the 70/80s, with its radical and materialist roots, was the first to develop a criticism to the new born queer theory and the one to keep this criticism alive until today. We want to bring to the discussion some of the main points of the lesbian-feminist criticism to queer theory based on a materialist and radical approach to discuss strategies to overcome neoliberalism.
